About the book:
Advanced Backgammon is the second edition of the classic work originally published in
1984. The second edition – divided into two volumes – contains over 400 problems
on advanced checker and cube strategy. The two volumes are about money backgammon. The
problems are arranged by position type, and are about evenly divided between checker play
and cube plays.
The two books offer no secret methods or shortcuts to improving your backgammon. The way
to become a good player is to learn to make good moves. If you make better moves than your
opponent you will win in the long run.
Volume 1, Positional Play, includes chapters covering Opening Play, Middle Games, the
Five-Point, Hitting or Not Hitting, Attacking P1ay, Action Doubles, Crunch Positions,
Prime vs. Prime Games, and Back Games.
